Hydrostatic transmissions are usually hydraulically actuated, which makes it easy to change gears without using the clutch. Similarly, power shuttle transmissions are great for heavy-duty forward-and-reverse shifting. In either case, the clutches are hydraulically actuated and bathed in oil.
